The vines, planted in a sand clay-limestone and rolled pebbles, are protected from the marine winds by the La Clape mountain. The Ortola family wines are crafted by hand, in a traditional manner.
Today, Suzanne, Hélène, Nelson and Georges find themselves in charge of some superb vineyards which, thanks to the biodynamic approach taken, are in a very healthy condition. Constantly seeking harmony between earth, vine, flora, fauna and the cycles of nature, the Ortolas produce elegant wine with real personality.

“Due to our belief in the importance of protecting the environment and biodiversity, and in the need for a living soil in order to produce great wines, we had all the domaines organically certified by ECOCERT from 2008 and then biodynamically certified by DEMETER.
In order to produce fine wines, we create grass cover in the vineyards using legumes, cereals and pollen or nectar-producing plants to feed our bees. We also make use of biodynamic preparations and care for the plants using other plants.
This allows us to produce fine grapes, picked at perfect maturity, and to carry out a careful vinification with no sulphites added during the entire winemaking process.”
